Solo Game

Just finished my first solo game. 173 cycles

Due to the game cycle it reminded me of Age of Empires.

Just a couple of interesting learning experience and thoughts:

Rebels are way to strong. I understand leveling the playing field but there defense bonus is way to high.

I thought we could transfer aircraft as long as the other airbase was in range. It is a shame that you get some fully tricked out aircraft and have to sell them for scrap.

The AI players are ok. Even though I got varied opponents they played very similarly. Expect the one who kept buying spies. :)

And I don't know what the heal rate for bases is, but I hit one with a Jet, a Missile and two tanks and it was back to full strength in one cycle.  I had to nuke it to win.

I will take more notes the next game I play

I have played a few more Solo games.

It is addictive in the early game to just process orders and get to the combat.

It is a good tool for understanding (or misunderstanding) how to schedule your Research

I am also understanding terrain a bit better as it comes to movement.

The Ai players are predictable and unimaginative.  They rarely use air power and tend to fixate on one unit.

I have been playing with the land mass slider. It makes each game very different when it come to strategy.

Some of my complaints from my first post have been remedied by Johnny.

More notes of the Solo game.

The AI isn't great. It is ok but they are easy to beat.
In my recent game each country was on its own island. The AI expanded to the island limits and stopped.
I had to build bridges between the islands to get them to attack each other. And they did for a few cycles and then stopped.

I left my island undefended. And as I type this I have completed 258 and the one remaining country has not attacked me.

And as the game progressed beyond 180 cycles glitches have started to appear.

I had a warship get a  victory yet it disappeared off the map.

I was able to sell two fully equipped carriers without having to sell the jets first. And the jets are still showing up in my inventory and supply lines.

The report has become less precise.

I plan on pushing this game to 364 cycles to see if I can get the last country to attack me. I hold (or held) all the other sectors.  I am currently helping it take all those sectors to see what it does when it is bigger than me
