I detect a sub with a spy plane, sent in my warship and it bombarded The sector the sub was in. Sadly my warship was sunk by two torpedoes. As far as I can see it took no damage, so on the next cycle I decided to use a jet as I had a clear air corridor. The sun destroyed my jet and still appears to be untouched… is their a way to sink a sub?
Super subs?
R005T3R_D, can you please report the sector the sub is in as a bug, with the details from this post? That will give me the details I need to trace the logs.
R005T3R_D, here's the trace report!
What actually happened
The player was up against country 16, which had 4 subs clustered around 86326 / 86435 / 86500 / 86459 — not a single sub the player described.
Cycle 30 — warship 202 had two queued sea orders (orders.id 9418 → path ending at 86500, then 9439 → continuing to 86435):
- Bombarded 86435 → hit sub 1694 for ~11.5% (88.46 health)
- Bombarded 86500 ×2 → hit sub 380 for ~23% (76.92 health)
- Defending torpedo from sub 380 at 86500 chewed the warship to ~47%
- Bombarded 86326 → hit sub 1255 for ~5.4% (94.58 health)
- Continued into 86435 → defending torpedo from sub 1694 finished the warship off
Cycle 31 — jet strike to 86500: path-based interception killed it before arrival (intercept_health_loss: 100, damage dealt 0). The player launched a second jet to 86441 the same cycle from the same base and that one flew unopposed — so the interception is specifically along the 86500 approach.
Cycle 31 phase 5 — country 16 healed 1 sea unit for 50 health (cycle_events confirms). That's sub 1255 at 86326, adjacent to country 16's sea base at sector 86292, going 94.58 → 100.
Cycle 32 — country 16 built fresh sub 2228 at 86459 (full health) and shuffled the others around. Subs 380 and 1694 moved out of base-heal range, so they're still at the damaged values.
The actual issue
A sub parked next to a friendly sea base regenerates ~4× faster than a warship can damage it.
The player's perception is technically wrong on subs 380 and 1694, but spot-on for 1255 (healed back) and 2228 (newly built). They have no UI signal that distinguishes any of these.
So, the issue is all of the subs that are circling around in that area and returning to base to heal.
I changed heal rate for units to 35%. I could potentially increase warship bombardment, but it fires a bombardment once at each step it traverses in a cycle. So, right now, I feel like that balance is probably correct.

Ok I think I understand, the jet in the replay hit the sector so I assumed it made it to the sub, the second was in case the sub moved, so no contact.
The warship did bombard The subs 2/3 in the area but from my perspective I didn’t notice they had shuffled and one healed, plus a new one added. But the ship didn’t defend itself against the subs just bombarded them, my guess is that in theory the ship was unable to see them?
With bombarding doing so little damage what is the best way to attack a sub?
