I have not yet seen a world that has no/few continents. I think that might be an interesting change of pace to try at some point. I'm thinking like cap the size of any contiguous land territory at 500 or so sectors.

Only if there is some faster boat or small map or airdrops of troops. Weeks to get to the next island makes a very boring game. There were some places on E-map that had boats traveling the entire 6 months of the map and still did not reach the fighting.

No, there should be no sea that takes weeks to cross. I was thinking of something that is 70-90% land, just heavily crisscrossed with water 1-10 tiles across. The idea is that construction trucks would be more important, and bridges might have meaning beyond an island-capturing convenience (those 5-15 tile islands that are scattered around) or the TRANS-OCEANIC BRIDGE OF DOOM.

Well so far I've only seen Land masses with lakes. What about a place with lots of rivers. Why hasnt that been thought of already??? lol. It wouod make bridge building much more relevant, and create more pinch points and bridge battles common to warfare.
...Just think Europe and WWII.
