Idea for a Tournament format.

Just had this thought today for a cool format that could happen at random times or holidays or something.

Set up a smallish map that will have a really short "turn" period. Like 30-2hrs minutes. Have like a 2-3 week preregistration and as soon as the world starts no new countries can start. Possibly random spawn point etc. Maybe have it set up to have a time limit 2weeks maybe even a weekend tourni. Just a thought hadn't put much thought into it just random info. I am in no way suggesting you change the format of this awesome game. Just thought it might be fun to let people have a shot at a short term quicky game.

Thanks,

The problem I have with creating a game that processes every hour or two is that the game would change quite dramatically while a player sleeps. I suppose I could make the game process more rapidly during normal waking hours, but it also takes a chunk of time to process and update the game during each cycle.

One of the things I'm planning on doing in the future is having smaller user-generated games be available. So, a user can create a game, make it public or private, select a map (or upload a custom map image), and choose the game settings (including the hours the cycle takes place, with a maximum number per day). Maybe I can use that system to create mini "official" tournament maps, where it wouldn't be quite as intense as being processed hourly.
